Bill Hillier is Professor of Architecture and Urban Morphology and Director of the Space Syntax Laboratory at University College London, where he pioneered the methods of analysis known as 'space syntax’. He is also the founder and a Director of Space Syntax Limited. He is author of The Social Logic of Space (Cambridge University Press, 1984), 'Space is the Machine' (CUP 1996), and a large number of papers and articles concerned with space in buildings and cities. He has been described as the only architectural theorist who is regularly consulted by leading architects on major projects.
