Maze Inside the Maze

Avin Fathulla

This area of the island is so bushy and thick with vegetation that it is almost claustrophobic. The main paved paths of the island become monotonous tunnels. There are open spaces within the bushes, like interior rooms, where people sunbath privately in the summer. The intervention tries to work with this idea of cutting out space from the thick vegetation and creating a path that rises so that one can gain orientation. It was intended to emphasize a strong contrast of being within, then rising slowly to the horizon and seeing the city in the distance.
