The Institute for Art and Architecture offers a three year Bachelor’s Program in Architecture (BArch) in English and German (B2 level required).
The entrance procedure at the IKA offers the applicants the opportunity to present their works, themselves and their interest for architecture. The portfolio should give us an overview about your experiences, visions, interests, skills and questions concerning architecture – and further. If you are selected for the interview, this gives you the opportunity to present your works to a group of teachers and students.
Portfolio reviews for our Architecture Programs are open sessions for consultation. They offer a possibility to show your work and get advice from IKA teachers concerning your portfolio or accreditation of previous studies. Portfolio reviews by appointment are starting in April.
Portfolio advice sessions: 12.04. (Zoom) / 19.04. (Zoom) / 26.04. / 03.05. / 17.05. / 24.05. / 07.06.2024

FAQs
The IKA offers a doctorate study program in architecture (Dr. Techn.) since 2011, which is open to students holding an appropriate university degree in architecture (master, diploma). The program comprises a total of 180 ECTS credits for a duration of 6 semesters.
Candidates who wish to apply for the program are required to write a synopsis (c. 10 pages) of their proposed dissertation project and to approach a professor of the IKA who could act as a supervisor for their intended doctoral thesis. The professors at the IKA have different professional skills and background (technical, historical, artistic etc. see list of professors). Students are requested to contact the professor whose scientific field is related to the subject of the dissertation topic. Recommended is also a face-to-face meeting if possible. Based on the synopsis of the proposed dissertation project and available capacity the professor will decide whether he or she is willing to supervise the dissertation. For registration the students need the signed agreement of one of the professors of the IKA.
There is no application deadline and no admission fee.
